How many people can stay at Villa CP?
The main house sleeps 8 and the annex house sleeps 2 more, for a maximum total of 10 guests. (We don’t count infants under 3 years in the total.)
What’s the Covid situation?
From 21 October 2022, all COVID-19 travel restrictions for travellers to Spain have been cancelled.
Do you have a high chair and cot for babies?
Yes. We have 2 high chairs and 2 cots for babies, plus a baby bath, changing mat and plenty of plastic plates, cups and so on. Please bring your own baby bottles and nappies (diapers)!
We want a golf holiday. Are you near to good golf courses?
We are very near to PGA Golf Catalunya, about 20 minutes by car to the golf course. And there are several other excellent 18-hole golf courses nearby. Golf de Pals, Golf Costa Brava, Golf de Mas Nou, to mention just a few. It's best to bring golf clubs and shoes, you can rent a golf buggy at all courses. We are happy to help you organise your golf holidays - and of course also to advise you on fun activities and visits for those who don't play golf.
Please explain how many bedrooms and bathrooms?
- The main house has 4 double bedrooms. That’s 3 bedrooms with double beds and 1 bedroom with 2 twin beds. The twin beds can be separate or joined. So that's a maximum of 8 guests in the main house.
- The separate annex house sleeps 2 more guests, it has 1 bedroom with a double bed. So if you rent both the main house and the annex house together, your group can be 10 maximum in total.
- And bathrooms: 3 in the main house. The master suite has a huge en suite private bathroom with double showers, double sinks, wc, bidet, bath, plus outside hot/cold shower. Bedroom 2 also has its own blue bathroom. Bedrooms 3 and 4 share the red bathroom with double sink, single shower and wc.
- The annex has its own private bathroom en suite.
Which parts of the house are wheelchair accessible?
Bedroom 2 with twin beds and its bathroom are wheelchair accessible, also the kitchen/dining room, the terraces, the pool and most of the garden. You need to be able to manage stairs to use the living room and the other bedrooms. It's a very old house and we weren't able to make these spaces accessible without stairs, sorry.
Can you describe the area?
It's beautiful, quiet and the views are amazing! It's half way between the beaches of the Costa Brava and Girona. Villa CP sits on a private hillside that looks out to the sea over the Gavarres national park. There’s hardly any sound except the birds. Our nearest village is 6km away and has supermarkets, shops, a farmer’s market, pharmacies etc – everything you need, probably.
Is it near the beach?
It’s 20-25 minutes by car to the Costa Brava beaches. The Costa Brava is famous for its rocky coves and sandy beaches. Most of our guests use the sandy beaches, some are quiet and some have nice restaurants, because many of the rocky coves are hard to reach without a boat or a walk along the rocks. We have a map of beaches, coves, etc for you.
Is it Girona or Gerona?
Both! This is a bilingual region in Spain. "Girona" is the Catalan spelling and "Gerona" is the Castellano spelling. (Castellano is how people here refer to "Spanish" as understood by the rest of the world.) We tend to say Girona because that it what you will see on road signs.
How far is the airport?
Please allow 90 minutes to/from Barcelona airport. Girona airport is much closer (20 minutes) but Barcelona has many more international flights.
Where can we rent a car?
We usually recommend Avis.com. They have good clean cars, they’re flexible and they have offices all over, at the airports, at Girona train station, in Barcelona city centre, too.
Where are the shops and markets?
Our local village has various supermarkets, as well as a farmer’s market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. In Girona you will also find a fantastic variety of shops. We have a page for shops and markets, too.
What about wi-fi / internet?
There’s wi-fi in the whole house and the terraces. There is also 4G by the pool and in the garden. We have a smart tv in the large living room so you can watch Netflix etc using your own account.
What’s included in the rent?
The rent includes all taxes, there are no hidden extras. We make a standard charge per week for cleaning and laundry. We provide household essentials like olive oil and tea/coffee. Optional extras are available for a separate charge: daily maid service, taxis, babysitter, etc. Please ask us for details.
Special features for kids?
How about a large trampoline, full size ping pong table, full size table football ("futbolín"), board games like Scrabble and Monopoly, DVDs, books, pool noodles, jeu de boules, an electric piano and an acoustic guitar, hammocks... and of course amazing forest walks to discover secret trails... mountain bikes for rent...
Do you have air conditioning?
The house has cooled floors instead of air conditioning: they work much better, they are silent and you don't get any cold draughts. The house is also insulated to Passivhaus standards, using cork insulation produced from locally grown cork. Summers here are hot and you will appreciate the cool, pleasant temperatures inside the house, especially in the bedrooms at night (cooled floors are much nicer than air conditioning!)
What about barbecues in summer?
You can cook on the barbecue by the pool which has a chimney and spark protection. The fire service has registered its exact location with GPS. You are in a forest and in summer it's dry so there are strict rules (keep the hose attached at all times; no portable barbecues; use coals not firewood; NEVER light a barbecue if there's a strong wind.
Can we bring our bikes?
Yes, of course! It's a great area for cycling. You can store your bikes at the house, or rent them from us or from several shops in Girona and at the beaches (they have electric bikes for rent, too). We have a page on our blog at catalanvilla.com with all the information.
Are pets allowed?
Sorry, pets aren't allowed.
Is there a tennis court?
There are nice tennis courts in the village, about 10 minutes by car, which you can rent by the hour. They also have padel tennis courts, which is great fun and very easy to learn.
Recommended restaurants?
This is a great area for gastronomy. If you are willing to wait a year, you can book a table at the Celler de Can Roca... but we also made a map for guests, using Google Maps, that has all our local recommendations, from Michelin stars to pizza.
How big is the pool?
It's 20 metres long and 6 metres wide, with 3 parts. A very shallow area, called the playa de piscina, is only 6 inches deep. From there, steps lead down to the children's area, 1m deep, and from there you can swim into the main pool, which is 12m long. There's a diving platform at the deep end. There are steps at both ends. The pool does not have a fence or wall around it so you must supervise young children at all times.
Can we rent the house for just 1 night or a weekend?
Sorry but we don't take bookings for only 1 or 2 nights. In the summer we only take bookings of 1 or 2 weeks, Saturday to Saturday. In the low season sometimes we can accept shorter bookings, it depends really, please contact us to check if it's possible.
